Director Matthew Albritton – School of the Arts

Albritton is a firm believer that a separation between work and home life is one of the keys to having a healthy work-life balance and reducing the stress he feels from his work as director of the School of the Arts. One way he feels he accomplishes this is through his commute. Albritton lives very close to campus and is able to bike to and from work, when the weather permits. When he arrives home to his three kids he “take[s] off my administrator hat and puts on my dad hat.” In his free time, he likes to bike recreationally, as well as swim, in order to stay active. In the past, he raced mountain bikes. He also takes trips with his family occasionally, which allows him and his family to rekindle their relationships and to take a break from the bustle of their everyday lives. One of his hobbies is photography, with one of his longest running projects being traveling around the United States and photographing the birthplaces of U.S. presidents. He loves learning about their childhoods and how that eventually shaped them as adults. “Photography has been my love and my obsession,” he said.
