Tuesday, April 8
Men’s golf competed in the Jewell Invitational with team A finishing T-2 and team B finishing 9th. Team A: Both Luke Muller and Micah Bertram finished T-6th individually at even par (142) for the event. Muller shot +1 in the first round and -1 in the second, while Bertram shot a pair of rounds at even par. Isaac Moody finished 23rd at +3 (145). Moody shot a 73 in round one and a 70 in round two. Zack Beard finished +5 (71, 76 total of 146), making four birdies. Justin Gabbard made four birdies at the tournament, finishing at +7 (74, 75 total of 179).
Team B: Cooper Eberle finished 11th, shooting +1 for the tournament (73, 70 total of 143). Eberle made four birdies in his second round 70 and seven overall. Brady Holmes finished at +7 (73, 76 — 149), making five birdies at the tournament. Both Mason Butler (74, 78 total of 152) and Evan Stewart (72, 80 — 152) finished at +10. Tyler Mitts finished at +14 (75, 81 total of 156).
Baseball went up against Eastern Kentucky on the road, losing 9-6. Gerald Hanson got the start for the Norse, pitching an inning and allowing a pair of runs. MJ Castaneda threw 2.1 innings with a pair of strikeouts in the loss. Connor Kurki took the loss. Jake Johnson returned to the mound and threw 1.1 innings of scoreless relief. Aaron Massie threw two scoreless innings with five strikeouts. Ryan Pehrson pitched a scoreless eighth with two strikeouts. On the offensive end, Josh Williams finished 2-4 with five RBI. Williams had a bases-clearing triple in the loss. Jake Altman hit his first homer of the year for NKU. Braylen Harlamert notched a hit and a walk. Tyler Shaneyfelt had a hit and drew a pair of walks. NKU combined to steal three bases.
Softball faced off against IU-Indy, winning 3-2. Olivia Pastin had herself a day at the plate, as she went 3-3 with two doubles and a home run, collecting three RBI. Alicia Flores threw 4.2 shutout innings, allowing just two hits and one walk. Flores didn’t give up a single hit in the final three innings. Jena Rhoads went 2-3 with a pair of singles and scored a run. Emma Ginn went 1-3 with a double.
Wednesday, April 9
Softball split a double header against IU-Indy. NKU won the first game 5-3: NKU tallied just four hits in the game, walking three times. Olivia Pastin continued her great play as she finished 2-2 with two doubles, two RBI, two runs scored and a walk. Brielle DiMemmo finished 1-2 with a double, an RBI and an HBP. In the circle, Kyndall Ford got the start for the Norse and she pitched 4.2 innings of one-run ball, striking out a pair. Alicia Flores relieved Ford in the fifth, notching her third save of the season as she struck out four and allowed just one hit. IU-Indy won the second game 12-4: – NKU collected nine hits, walking three times. Campbell Beatty went 3-4 in the game with three singles, an RBI and a run scored. Marley Gearld hit her first homer of the season as she finished 2-3 with a pair of runs scored. Jena Rhoads went 1-4 with an RBI triple and a walk. Pastin went 1-3 with an RBI and a walk. In the month of April, Pastin’s numbers have jumped up. She is now hitting .625 with a 1.125 slugging percentage in five games.

Baseball beat Youngstown State 3-2. Kaden Echeman took the ball for the Norse and pitched well, throwing 6.0 innings and allowing only a pair of runs on four hits while striking out nine. Echeman took a no-decision. Shawn Parnell got the win, throwing two scoreless innings out of the bullpen while striking out three. Evan Fry picked up his second win of the season with a scoreless ninth. To bat, three Norse had multiple hits, led by Tyler Shaneyfelt, who finished 2-4 with an RBI and a pair of runs scored, while Jake Altman finished 2-3 with a run scored. Shaneyfelt stole a base as well. Gabe Miranda had a pair of hits, two walks and stole a pair of bases in the win. Logen Devenport finished 1-4 with an RBI and a walk drawn.
Saturday, April 12
Women’s and men’s track and field competed in the Track Invitational with both teams coming home with first place.
Women’s side 1st (157.50 points): Lacey Klare notched the Norse’s first victory of the day with a win in the 100m hurdle, running a season-best 14.74. Presley Meloche finished second in the event in 18.25. Joi Bradley won the 400m race on her senior day, running a 1:00.40. Olivia Kennedy again claimed a victory in the 800m run, running a 2:11.64. Jade Stinson and Grace Biddle also recorded top-eight times. Alexandra Newman won the shot put by a foot, with a best throw of 11.57m. Meredith Goff won the 200m dash, posting a time of 24.71. Goff finished second in the 100m dash, finishing in 12.11. Madison McDaniel followed her up in fifth with a time of 12.40. Grace Biddle finished second in the women’s mile, running a 5:09.93. Macie Radcliffe also recorded a top-five finish in the event with a time of 5:15.70. In the long jump, Kayla Willging leaped 4.74 meters, grabbing a second-place finish. It marked the best leap of any Norse in the 2025 outdoor season. NKU notched a pair of top-three finishes in the 400m hurdles, as Sierra Kendall finished second in 1:01.58 and Madison McDaniel finished third in 1:07.64.
Men’s side 1st (121 points): Jacob Messer took home the 800m crown, running a 1:54.90. Nathan Ruth won the 3000m steeplechase, finishing in 10:01.28. Summit Northrup (3rd), Owen Mathews (4th) and Nicholas Costas (5th) all recorded top-five finishes. Aaron Silva won the 200m dash, running a 22.64. Alexander Prevatte followed him up with a time of 22.85. Stetson Childress ran a 15:26.32 in the 5000m run, a second-place finish. NKU grabbed second and third place finishes in the 4x400m relay, as Brayden Holland, Branton Koroly, Aaron Silva, & Elijah Harrison finished second in 3:23.78 while the team of Brennen Callahan, Brady Messer, Jacob Messer, & Preston Winiger finished third in 3:28.21. Five Norse finished top ten in the mile, as Nathan Ruth (4th, 4:16.93), Colton O’Hara (5th, 4:20.33), Brady Messer (6th, 4:21.88), Natnael Weldemichael (8th, 4:27.24) and Bryan Stoltzfus (10th, 4:28.41) all notched top-ten finishes. Evan Talley and Alden Williams both finished in the top four of the triple jump, as Talley jumped 12.12m while Williams recorded a best leap of 11.94m.
Baseball won big against Youngstown State, winning 14-3. Conner Linn got the start for the Norse and threw 3.2 innings, allowing three runs. Logan Wilson for the win out of the bullpen, dominated the Penguins during his 3.1 innings. He allowed only one hit and struck out five. Aaron Massie fired two perfect innings to lock down the W. On to the offensive: NKU’s success was helped a ton by YSU pitching, as the Norse were able to draw 17 walks. Tyler Shaneyfelt drew three walks, stole a base, scored three times and finished with three RBI on the day. Logen Devenport finished 3-5 with a walk drawn, a stolen base and three RBI. Nolan Sparks drew three walks and scored twice. Mark Nowak finished 1-1 off the bench. Marcus Harrison drew a walk and finished 1-2 with an RBI. Brennan Rowe and Jake Altman both drew two walks and had a hit.

Sunday, April 13
Women’s golf competed in the Lady Jaguar Invitational, placing 5th. Kenna Jenkinson led NKU, finishing T-11. Jenkinson fired a 78 in round one and an 80 in round two for a 158 (+14) total. Just one shot behind Jenkinson was Ella Hardy, who was T-13 with a 159 total. Hardy was consistent, shooting a 79 & then an 80. Both Reagan Nolan and Eva Maley finished T-28, with Nolan firing a pair of 82s (164) and Maley an 85 & 79 (164). Rachel DiDonato finished with a 170 total at +13 (85, 85, total of 170).
Baseball went up against Youngstown State, losing 18-8. Aaron Boster took the ball for the Norse in the finale and allowed five runs (two earned) on five hits and four walks. Shawn Parnell took the loss. NKU pitchers combined for just two strikeouts while walking 10 Penguins’ batters. To the bats, Gabe Miranda led the Norse, finishing 2-5 with a home run, a double and four RBI. Logen Devenport finished 2-3 with a home run, a double and a pair of RBI. Tyler Shaneyfelt stole three bases, drew three walks, had a hit and scored twice in the loss. Jake Paulick finished 1-4 with a solo home run.
