Tuesday, Feb. 18
Men’s golf finishes 6/12 in the Desert Classic hosted by Eastern Kentucky. Luke Muller finished seventh individually at -5 for the tournament. Muller made 10 birdies and an eagle across 54 holes, firing rounds of 70-68-73 — 211 to finish just nine shots back of first. Mason Butler shot +2 across 54 holes (73-72-73 —218) to finish 25th. Butler made 12 birdies across his three rounds. Justin Gabbard made a big push in the third round of the tournament to finish 29th. Gabbard finished the weekend at +3 (78-72-69 — 219). During the third round, he ripped off a pair of birdies and an eagle on holes one, two and three to gain momentum. He made six birdies and that eagle in the final round. Also finishing in 29th was Zack Beard, who made 13 birdies during the tournament while finishing +3 (75-71-73 — 219). Isaac Moody finished +5 (76-70-75 — 221), making five birdies and an eagle. All five Norse who competed at the event fired a round at even par or better.
Thursday, Feb. 20
Women’s basketball lost in a battle to Purdue Fort Wayne 69-57. Halle Idowu finished with 14 points, eight rebounds, three steals and two assists. Kalissa Lacy had another hot shooting day off the bench, she finished with 14 points with three three-point makes, three assists and two steals. Noelle Hubert played big minutes as she scored eight points and grabbed three rebounds, but defense was a huge part of her game. Jaci Jones had five assists, scored six points and grabbed five rebounds.
Friday, Feb. 21
Men’s tennis lost to Xaiver 1-6. Emilio Bravo picked up his third singles win of the season.

Baseball picked up its first win at home against Bellarmine 13-7. Conner Linn took the ball for the Norse to start the season off at home. The left hander threw six innings, giving up three runs, one earned on three hits and three walks while striking out seven Knights. Out of the bullpen, Jake Johnson threw 0.2 innings of scoreless relief. Jared Teke, Shawn Parnell and Bobby Bartlett also pitched for the Norse. In the batter’s box, seven Norse notched hits, with multi-hit efforts from Tyler Shaneyfelt, Gabe Miranda, Josh Williams and Jake Altman. Miranda provided a huge spark for the Norse with a towering, three-run home run that put NKU on top in the fifth. Sam Bond finished 1-4 with three RBI on the day. Both Altman and Shaneyfelt finished 3-5. Brennan Rowe finished 1-4 with an RBI. Mark Nowak notched a pair of walks and was hit by a pitch and scored all three times he reached base. Nowak, Miranda, Rowe and Altman each stole a base in the win.
Stunt went up against South Carolina losing 13-5, then lost against Trevecca Nazarene 22-0.
Men’s basketball picked up a huge road win over Wright State, 80-76. Dan Gherezgher led the Norse in double figures, dropping 17 points and three assists. Gherezgher shot 3-5 from three. Josh Dilling notched 16 points, grabbing five boards and three assists of his own. Dilling hit a pair of threes and shot 5-8 from the floor. Sam Vinson was highly efficient with 14 points, six rebounds and four assists. Vinson shot 6-7 from the floor and came up with three huge offensive rebounds. Trey Robinson picked up 12 points, adding four boards, three steals and one blocked shot. Keeyan Itejere blocked a pair of shots and grabbed five boards to go along with his 10 points. NKU shot 53.6% from the field and 46.7% from beyond the arc in the win.

Saturday, Feb. 22
Men’s and women’s swimming competed in their Horizon League championship, setting 18 school records. The swim teams competed all week in Indianapolis wrapping up their historic inaugural season. Both the men’s and women’s teams placed seventh. NKU’s 200-yard Medley Relay team of Jeffrey Wenker, Tyler Cukovecki, Ethan Johnson and Conner Norton picked up 24 points in their race with a final time of 1:34.62 (school record). Frank Runge, Dimiter Zafirov, Jack Miranda and Patrick Gibbons finished the 800-yard Freestyle Relay in 6:48.97 — picking up 26 points with a school record. Frank Runge picked up five points with a school record in the 500-yard Freestyle. Ethan Johnson set a school record in the 200-yard IM (1:54.54). Chloe Loftis set both a personal best and school record in the 50 freestyle (27.23), as did Patrick Gibbons on the men’s side at 20.68. Runge set another school record in the 500-yard free (4:33.09), breaking his own record and setting a personal best. Khizar Shah’s 50.37 in the 100-yard butterfly marked a school record. In total, the Norse set 18 new school records at the championships.
Stunt lost to Missouri Baptist 18-0, then went up against Purdue losing 12-10. In the Purdue match, NKU trailed 5-1 heading into the third quarter, which included jumps and tumbling, where NKU outscored Purdue 3-2 to make the score 7-4 headed into the fourth. In the fourth quarter it was the team routine which combined the first three quarters into one routine. The Norse battled, but the Boilermakers outscored them 6-5.
Baseball caught their second win against Bellarmine 12-5. Aaron Boster got the start for NKU and picked up his first win of the season, throwing five innings and allowing just a pair of runs on two hits and three walks. The lefty struck out five Knights. Out of the bullpen, Noah Sackenheim threw three innings and Carson French locked down the Knights on just eight pitches. Gabe Miranda starred for the Norse for the second straight day. The redshirt sophomore finished 3-4 with a homer, a double, and four RBI. Miranda finished a triple short of the cycle. Tyler Shaneyfelt finished 2-3 with a triple, reaching base four times and scoring four runs. Shaneyfelt stole a base as well, one of three for the Norse on the day. Braydon Rodgers finished 1-3, drawing a walk and driving in a pair with a double. Leadoff man Nolan Sparks finished 2-4 with a double and an RBI. Sam Bond drove in a pair of runs with a single as part of a 1-5 day. Brennan Rowe, the Norse shortstop, finished 2-5 with a monster solo homer that flew over the fence. Rowe had a pair of RBI.
Women’s basketball lost on Senior Day to Wright State 68-62. Macey Blevins dropped 17 points, adding four assists and two rebounds on her senior day. Mya Meredith got 12 points, grabbing five rebounds. Abby Wolterman grabbed a career-high 13 rebounds, recorded three steals and scored eight points. Nine of Wolterman’s 13 rebounds came on the defensive end. Halle Idowu scored 11 points, adding three rebounds and three assists.
Sunday, Feb. 23
Baseball won their third straight game against Bellarmine, 17-12. Gerald Hanson got the start for the Norse, giving up four earned runs and one five hits. He did notch two strikeouts. Logan Wilson then came in and pitched four innings, allowing just one hit and three walks while striking out four batters. Aaron Cassie threw two innings of one run ball to lock down the save. In the batter’s box, Josh Williams led the Norse in RBI with six, finishing 1-4 with an RBI walk and a go-ahead grand slam. Logen Devenport returned to the lineup with a 2-4 day driving in three. Gabe Miranda drew three walks, finished 1-3 with 3 RBI and scored a run. Miranda drove in 11 runs on the weekend. Marcus Harrison finished 2-3 with a pair of runs scored. Tyler Shaneyfelt had another great day, finishing 2-3 with three walks drawn, an RBI and five runs scored.
Men’s basketball heats up as they beat IU-Indy 71-67. Josh Dilling’s 28 points led all scorers, as he let it fly from three, going 7-15 from downtown. 17 of his points came in the second half. Dan Gherezgher had 15, going 6-13 from the field and hitting three three-pointers. Gherezgher also grabbed seven boards and dished out four assists. Trey Robinson picked up 13 points, eight rebounds and five assists. Sam Vinson grabbed eight rebounds, recorded five assists and scored five points. After shooting just 35.1% from the field in the first half, the Norse turned it up in the second, shooting 57.7% and 50.0% from three.
