Wednesday, Feb. 12
Women’s basketball beat Cleveland State 72-69. Kalissa Lacy drained five three-pointers off the bench.. She finished with 15 points and six assists. Mya Meredith hit three 3-pointers, scored 11 points and grabbed six rebounds. Jaci Jones also knocked down three threes. She recorded three assists without a turnover. Halle Idowu scored nine points, grabbed five rebounds, and recorded two steals. Macey Blevins finished with eight points, six rebounds, four assists, and two steals. Abby Wolterman scored eight points, recorded two steals, and blocked a shot.
Friday, Feb. 14
Men’s and women’s track and field competed at the GVSU Big Meet. Natnael Weldemichael ran a 14:17.52 in the 5000m, running in Section 1 and finishing sixth. That time earned a Provisional Qualification to the NCAA Indoor Championships, a big achievement for the junior from Fort Mitchell. Colton O’Hara finished in 14:28.31 in Section 2 in the 5000m race, a sixth-place finish. Brittany Arnold recorded a time of 18:14.59 in Section 5 of the 5000m race, finishing second in her section.
Softball won one of two in a double header beating Creighton 3-0 then lost to Kennesaw State 5-3 in the Kennesaw State Tournament. First game: Brooklyn Ballis pitched a shutout. She allowed seven hits and one walk, facing 27 batters. Olivia Pastin went 2-3 with two doubles, including a 2-RBI double in the fifth inning. No other Norse recorded a hit in the game, but six walks helped the Norse get on base. Emma Ginn walked three times, while Jena Rhoads, Mack Brow, and Brooke Keltner each walked once. Second game: Alicia Flores started on the mound for the Norse. She pitched four innings, allowing four runs and five hits. Jena Rhoads went 2-4 and scored a pair of runs. Emma Ginn 1-3, Stella Wulker 1-3, Brooke Keltner 1-3, and Marlee Loudermilk 1-2 all hit singles. NKU struck out eight times. The Norse are 5-0 when they draw more walks than strikeouts, but they move to 0-2 when the opposite occurs.
Women’s tennis fell against Xavier 7-0.

Baseball lost their season opener in a double header against ETSU. The first game was 14-1 then the second game was 9-2. First game: Kaden Echeman started on the mound for the Norse. Echeman threw four innings, giving up four runs on seven hits and a walk. The senior struck out six. Logan Wilson pitched 1.2 innings of not giving up a run. It was a rough game offensively for the Norse, who struggled for a pair of hits. Newcomer Josh Williams provided the lone run as he hit the ball over the fence, the first homer of the season. Second game: Conner Linn started on the mound for NKU, pitching 3.1 innings. He gave up five runs, three which were earned on six hits. He struck out three batters. NKU plated a pair of runs led by Jake Paulick, who finished 2-4 with a solo shot. Logan Devenport also finished 2-4 with a run scored. NKU left nine runners on base in the loss.
Men’s tennis lost to Dayton 6-1.

Men’s basketball beat Green Bay on the road 73-60. Josh Dilling led all scorers, dropping 25 points, added three boards, an assist and a steal in the win. Dilling knocked down five three point baskets. Trey Robinson finished with 20 points, six rebounds, a pair of assists and a steal. Robinson had 15 in the first half. Keeyan Itejere had eight points, seven rebounds and three blocks. LJ Wells had four points, nine rebounds and two blocks. Dan Gherezgher posted four points and tied a season high with six assists. Sam Vinson finished with seven points, five boards and three assists with a block and a pair of steals.
Saturday, Feb. 15
Men’s and women’s track and field competed at Mount St. Joseph University. The Norse dominated in the 800m race on both sides, with Preston Winiger winning the men’s race (1:58.45), and Carlie Condit (2:21.25) taking home the women’s title. Erica Durst, Brayden Holland, and Gregory Beard also recorded top-five finishes in the 800m. Alden Williams claimed victories in both the long jump (6.29) and triple jump (12.62m). Lacey Klare won the 60m hurdles, running a 9.50. Alexandra Newman took home a shot put victory with a throw of 12.54m. Nathan Ruth claimed a victory in the men’s mile, running a 4:20.95. Samsun Weldemichael won the 3000m, running a 9:01.92.
Men’s and women’s track and field competed at the Marshall Invitational. Olivia Kennedy won the 800m race, finishing with a season-best mark of 2:13.58. Cameron Bitterman continued her hot streak with a win in the 400m, running a 56.82. Brady Messer finished second in the 800m with a time of 1:54.62.
Softball split another double header losing to Creighton 10-0 then beating Morehead State 18-15 in the Kennesaw State Tournament. First game: Campbell Beatty went 2-3 at the plate with a pair of singles. Lexy Morris went 1-3 with a double. Olivia Pastin went 1-2 with a single and a walk. Kyndall Ford allowed just two hits and struck out five batters in three innings. Second game: Olivia Pastin went 3-5, with four RBI, three runs scored, a home run, and a double. Her sixth-inning three-run shot pushed the Norse out of reach from the Eagles. Emma Ginn finished with three doubles, going 3-4 with three RBI and scored a pair of runs. Mack Brow finished 3-4 with a double, two runs scored, and one RBI. Brooke Keltner went 1-3 with a 2-RBI double in the first inning and a sac bunt that scored a run in the third. Jena Rhoads went 2-5 with a pair of RBI and scored a run. Marlee Loudermilk finished 1-4, hitting a 2-RBI double in the first frame. Kyndall Ford closed the game with a save, pitching 1.1 innings and only allowing one walk.
Baseball lost to ETSU 6-2. Aaron Boster threw four innings and allowed three runs on four hits and three walks. Boster struck out three batters as well. In relief, Noah Sackenheim and Bobby Bartlett combined to throw three scoreless innings with a combined five strikeouts. In the batter’s box, the Norse were led by Tyler Shaneyfelt, who finished 2-4 with a run scored. Logen Devenport and Nolan Sparks each provided a spark with an RBI double, as both men finished 1-4.
Sunday, Feb. 16
Softball lost their final game in the Kennesaw State Tournament to Kennesaw State 9-3. Campbell Beatty went 2-2 at the plate and walked twice. Jena Rhoads led things off with a double and scored the first run of the game. She finished 2-4 at the plate. Emma Ginn, Mack Brow, and Brooke Keltner all finished with one hit.
Women’s basketball lost to Robert Morris 63-59. Macey Blevins dropped 18 points. Blevins was 8-10 from the field, adding three steals and two assists. Mya Meredith finished a rebound shy of a double-double, finishing with 16 points and nine rebounds. She went 3-6 from deep and also had a pair of steals. Apart from Meredith, the Norse shot just 1-17 from three-point land. Halle Idowu finished with 14 points and eight rebounds. Jaci Jones dished out six assists, scored four points, got three steals, and grabbed three rebounds. NKU’s poor shooting from deep ended up being the key reason for the loss. Their 17.4% in the game was their second-worst all season, and their four three-point makes marked just the fourth time NKU made four or fewer threes in a game.
Men’s basketball fell to Milwaukee 92-70. Trey Robinson led NKU in points and rebounds in the loss, scoring 21 and grabbing eight boards. Robinson added three assists and shot 50% from the floor. Sam Vinson had 12 points, knocking down four of seven shot attempts. Randall Pettus II scored 14 off the bench. In the second half, NKU struggled from the field going 10-29 and 2-12 from three point land.
