Tuesday, Dec. 3
Men’s basketball lost to Akron 86-72. Trey Robinson led all scorers, posting 30 points on 11-15 shooting, including 3-4 from three-point range. Robinson scored 23 in the first half and grabbed five rebounds. Sam Vinson crossed the 1,000-point mark for his career with his three in the first half, as part of an 11-point night. Vinson had six assists and a pair of rebounds as well. Randall Pettus II knocked down three shots from beyond the arc, dropping 11 points. Dan Gherezgher and LJ Wells each posted seven points. The Norse made 24 total shots with 12 assists. NKU and Akron shot a combined 56 free throws: 28 per team. Akron won the rebounding battle 39-23.
Wednesday, Dec. 4
Women’s basketball lost to Cleveland State in the Horizon League opener 67-54. Kamora Morgan had a good game on both ends of the court. She scored 21 points and added four rebounds, an assist and a steal, all while playing great defense on the Horizon League’s leading scorer, Mickayla Perdue. Jaci Jones had five assists while only having one turnover. She also added five points, six rebounds and three steals. Noelle Hubert came off the bench for the Norse, scoring nine points on 3-8 shooting from three. A rough shooting night summed up the game for NKU, shooting 29.1% from the field.
Saturday, Dec. 7
Women’s basketball lost to Youngstown State 56-47. NKU had four players with six or more points, with Jaci Jones leading the way with nine. Jones grabbed four rebounds and finished 2-2 from three-point range. Gabby Razzano finished with six points and six boards. Mya Meredith scored eight points and had four steals. The Norse struggled in the fourth quarter, only hitting one out of 13 shots. NKU lost the rebounding battle 38-32 and points in the paint 32-10, which was a huge factor in this matchup.
Men’s basketball won in a close one against IU-Indy 66-64. Trey Robinson finished with 19 points, six rebounds and four assists, with his basket at the buzzer to win the game. Robinson scored his 1,000th career point with a layup in a crucial part of the game. Josh Dilling scored 17 points on 6-11 shooting and 5-9 from three, as his five threes marked a season high for him. Randall Pettus II got his first start of the year and scored nine points with a game-high five assists, all without a turnover, while grabbing three rebounds and three steals. Keeyan Itejere had a career-high five blocked shots and scored four points with three rebounds. NKU lost the rebounding battle 29-25, but forced 16 IU-Indy turnovers.
