Wednesday, Nov. 27
Men’s basketball lost to the College of Charleston 79-64. Sam Vinson led NKU in scoring, posting a season-high 21 points while adding six rebounds, three assists and a pair of steals. Trey Robinson posted the first Norse double-double of the season with 12 points and 12 boards, adding five steals and a block on the defensive end. LJ Wells scored nine points and added three steals. Dan Gherezgher had his best outing of his NKU career, scoring 11 points with four rebounds. NKU was out rebounded 39-29, but held a 12-10 advantage on the offensive glass. The Norse won the turnover battle, forcing 16 Cougar turnovers while committing 12. College of Charleston’s hot shooting from beyond the arc proved to be a big difference, shooting 11-24 from long range while NKU shot 7-27 from three.
Women’s basketball lost to Bradley 62-57. In the first quarter, the women started out taking a lead 19-8, shooting efficiently from the field at 40% and 60% from three. Going into the second quarter, the Norse didn’t slow down. They didn’t shoot as efficiently, but they forced seven turnovers and went into the half leading 29-21. Bradley stepped it up in the third quarter, forcing the Norse to shoot poorly from the field, which led the Braves to cut the lead to two going into the fourth quarter. The game would see multiple lead changes in the fourth quarter, as Bradley managed to pull away by getting to the line and converting 10 of their 12 free throw attempts. NKU had a chance to tie things with a three, but a late shot clock violation sealed the game for the Braves.
Saturday, Nov. 30
Women’s basketball lost against Eastern Kentucky 84-75. Halle Idowu led the Norse in scoring, pouring in 21 points on 8-16 shooting. She stuffed the stat sheet with five rebounds, three assists, and a steal. Macey Blevins scored 14 points and went 3-5 from deep. Blevins added two rebounds and two assists but fouled out with 6:34 remaining in the game. In her second start, Kamora Morgan scored 13 points, four rebounds and two assists. Mya Meredith added a scoring punch off the bench with 11 points and five rebounds. Anna Hamilton made key plays throughout the night, as she led the Norse in assists with four, while also adding four rebounds and two steals.
Men’s basketball beat Bellarmine 86-70. Randall Pettus II dropped a career-high 20 points in just 23 minutes, adding five rebounds, three assists and two steals. Northern Kentucky turned the ball over just five times, while forcing 15 Bellarmine turnovers. Trey Robinson had 24 points, eight boards and three steals. His scoring output marked a season-high. Sam Vinson scored 18 points, Vinson now sits just three points away from 1,000 career points. The Norse finished with 16 assists and won the rebounding battle 35-24.
