Tuesday, Nov. 19
Men’s basketball lost to number 18 ranked University of Cincinnati 76-60. Sam Vinson scored 16 points and grabbed four rebounds. Vinson scored eight points in each half. Trey Robinson finished with a near double-double, posting 12 points and eight rebounds. Robinson added four assists. Keeyan Itejere finished with eight points and eight boards.Three Norse finished with a pair of steals, Keeyan Itejere, Randall Pettus, and Hubertas Pivorius. NKU out rebounded the Bearcats 36-27, including 15 offensive rebounds.
Thursday, Nov. 21- Nov. 23
Men’s and women’s swimming competed in the House of Champions Invitational in Indianapolis with the Men finishing 11th with 115 Points. Frank Runge picked up 13 points for NKU with his 4:35.04 time in the 500 Yard Freestyle finals. Patrick Gibbons swam a 20.91 50 Yard Freestyle in the prelims, a school record. NKU’s relay team picked up 12 points in the 400 Yard Medley Relay and the 200 Yard Medley Relay. Gibbons picked up 12 points individually with his 1:41.07 finish in the 200 Yard Freestyle Final. He swam a 1:40.86 in the prelims. Runge collected four points for his effort in the event. Chloe Loftis swam the 100 Yard Backstroke in 1:11.87. She finished the 100 Yard Freestyle in 1:01.56, two seconds ahead of her seed time. Patrick Gibbons grabbed another five points in the 100 Yard Freestyle with a time of 45.86. Freshman Ethan Johnson just missed out on qualifying for the 200 Yard Butterfly finals with a 1:55.70 time in the prelims. Tyler Cukovecki gave NKU 12 points with his 53.14 time in the 100 Yard IM. Jack Miranda posted a 16:47.19 in the 1,650 Yard Freestyle, showing impressive stamina with a 28th place finish. The 400 Yard Freestyle Relay saw NKU pick up 12 points, finishing in 3:07.19.
Saturday, Nov. 23
Men’s basketball got their first win of the season against Kentucky State 85-59. Sam Vinson stayed hot from the Cincinnati game, scoring a season-high 17 points while adding four rebounds, four steals, and three assists in the win. LJ Wells finished the game with 12 points, eight boards, six assists and added three steals as well. Randall Pettus II was everywhere for NKU, having 17 points. Pettus II had a career high six steals. He also added six assists and five rebounds. Paulis Rapolis had the best game of his NKU career so far, with six points and six rebounds and four blocked shots. NKU won the rebounding battle 43-40, and recorded 20 steals as a team.
Women’s basketball lost to Southern Indiana 75-73. NKU was down 16 after three quarters then when the fourth quarter rolled around NKU picked up. NKU scored 30 points in that quarter getting as close as two but the Southern Indiana lead was too hard to come back from. Macey Blevis had 13 points and six rebounds. Kamora Morgan led the team in scoring with 21 points and added five rebounds. Halle Idowu had eight points. NKU had 36 points from the bench while having 34 points in the paint for the game.
