NKU honored eight of their seniors during Saturday’s senior day festivities in front of a crowd of more than 600 prior to the Horizon League matchup against Milwaukee.
Things started out rough for the Norse in the early moments. Only two minutes in, Ali Taleb was called for a yellow card after a run in with the Panthers’ goalie.
The game was quiet up until the 40th minute when Milwaukee’s Alejandro Martinez sent his eighth goal through the net, earning him the second spot for most goals this season. This was the only goal scored in the first half, and it was one of the only three total first half shots on goal.
The Panthers came out of the locker room strong. They extended their lead in the 58th minute on a Jack Wagner goal. Milwaukee made the lead balloon to 3-0 on a penalty kick goal from Daiki Kumakawa in the 68th minute. The Panthers would conclude their scoring for the day when Mesfin Roda found the back of the net off of a Alejandro Martinez assist.
The Norse would get on the scoreboard in the 80th minute, as Jason Purks rocketed one in off a Douglas Fajardo pass that delighted the NKU crowd. However, the defense of Milwaukee would keep them at that number. The Panthers defense capitalized on momentum throughout the second half, thanks to three yellow cards in the half by NKU.
4-1 would be the final tally at Scudamore Field.
The Norse fall to 2-5-7 on the season and 1-2-4 in conference play.
Their next matchup will be on the road as they battle Horizon League opponent Purdue Fort Wayne. The game is Friday, Nov. 1 and can be seen on ESPN+. The game is set to begin at 2 p.m.
