Monday, Sept. 2
- Women’s golf wrapped up their first tournament of the fall, with Eva Maley leading the way for the Norse with a T-19 finish. NKU moved up the leaderboard as a team, firing its lowest round of the tournament with a +22. The Norse finished ninth, the second-best finish out of the six Horizon League teams at the Invitational. Maley finished +17 for the tournament, the lowest of any Northern Kentucky student-athlete and second lowest of anyone in the Horizon League. Gracie Baun moved up eight spots on the leaderboard during the third round with a +2 for the round, 74, finishing T-24. After a tough first two rounds, Ella Hardy aided the Norse in their push during the final round with a 74. Lily Baumann finished T-52, competing as an individual. Rachel DiDonato finished T-64, while Hailey Coleman fired her best round of the tournament in round three.
Thursday, Sept. 5
- Women’s soccer fell to EKU 3-1. The match was much closer than the final score indicated, as the Northern Kentucky women’s soccer program put together an absolute battle both offensively and defensively. At half, the game was tied 0-0 but it only took 21 seconds for EKU to score right after half. Just seven minutes later, Lilly Yordy went on a run and finished it off with a perfect ball into the bottom corner of the net to make it a 1-1 contest. EKU scored two more goals to end the game. The first goal was two minutes after the Norse scored, then the Colonels got their last goal in the 89th minute. The Norse had six shots on goal and five corner kicks.
Friday, Sept. 6
- Women’s volleyball lost to Missouri 3-1. Joy Banks starred for the Norse, posting a second straight double-double with 17 kills and 14 digs, adding a block, as well as posting a .341 hitting percentage in the loss. Lucy Cluxton notched a team-high of 19 digs, and freshman Allison Risley put together another impressive performance with 10 kills and seven digs.
- Women’s cross country continued their record-setting start to the year with another historic feat as the Norse claimed the team title. It was the second-straight win for the NKU women, the first time the team has accomplished this feat in Northern Kentucky’s NCAA Division I era. After an individual victory at the season-opening Queen City Invitational, Grace Biddle posted another standout performance with a third-place finish at 17:51.6. It was the second-fastest 5K performance in school history. Brittany Arnold was right behind in fourth overall with a time of 18:00.5. Along with being a freshman record, it was also the third-fastest 5K showing in program history. The performance made it back-to-back strong races for the freshman. Carlie Condit and Allie Atchley crossed the line in 11th and 17th, respectively, with marks of 18:48.4 and 19:05.6. The Norse men also competed and used the race as another early-season test for their new squad. Nathan Ruth led the way in 47th overall with a time of 15:58.1. The rest of the NKU top five consisted of Robert Wilke (56th, 16:05.2), Jacob Messer (62nd, 16:09.0), Owen Mathews (67th, 16:10.0) and Brayden Rice (91st, 16:38.3).
Saturday, Sept. 7
- Women’s volleyball beat South Dakota in dominating fashion winning 3-0. Joy Banks tallied another dominant performance, totaling 15 kills and seven digs in the win. Banks was highly efficient for NKU, hitting .452. Allie Siefke was dominant at the net, posting seven total blocks with four solo blocks, also adding four kills. Lucy Cluxton was huge defensively for the Norse, finishing with a match-high of 17 digs. Torie Houston finished with 22 assists.
- Women’s triathlon completed in the first true triathlon event in school history as the Norse placed third overall. The event was truly unique as it featured a super sprint triathlon that consists of a 350-yard swim, 10K bike run and a 2K run. Alisha Detmer led the Norse with an 11th place finish overall. She completed the swim in 5:34, T1 in 33 seconds, the bike leg in 20:37, T2 in 19 seconds and the final run in 7:31. Detmer’s run was the third fastest overall in the race. Her overall time for the entire competition clocked in at 34:34. Josie Timmers finished second for the Norse and in 13th place overall. She completed the swim in 6:16, T1 in 55 seconds, bike leg in 20:19, T2 in 13 seconds and the run in 9:11. Timmers’s overall time was 36:54. Sophie McEwen finished third for the Norse and 15th overall. She completed the swim in 6:17, T1 in 38 seconds, bike leg in 22:45, T2 in 34 seconds and the run in 10:01. She crossed the line with an overall time of 40:15. Kelly Villanueva rounded out the NKU finishers in 16th. She completed the swim in 5:55, T1 in 38 seconds, bike leg in 21:10, T2 in 15 seconds and the final run in 12:22 for an overall time of 40:20.
Sunday, Sept. 8
- Women’s volleyball lost to Louisville 3-0. Lucy Cluxton finished with double-digit digs once again with 15, which led all players in the match. Joy Banks impressed with six kills and seven digs. Torie Houston led the Norse with 13 assists. NKU finished with six total blocks, led by Ivey Stocks’ three.
- Women’s soccer beat Morehead State 1-0. Kylie Anderson netted the game-winner with just under 10 minutes left in regulation to seal the NKU victory. The Norse dominated the attack with 14 shots; seven of the shots were on goal. The goalies for the Norse, Donna Bundy (30 minutes played), Tristen Cross (30 minutes) and Megan Gessner (30 minutes) all recorded a save.
- Men’s soccer got their first win of the season against Western Illinois winning 3-0. Ali Taleb netted his first goal of the season to put the Norse on the board in the 33rd minute. Yonatan Cohen was credited with the assist, his first of the year. Tyler Murphy wasted no time out of the halftime break, scoring in just the fourth minute after kickoff on an assist by Nico Stoddart. Bennett Gerak provided the dagger for NKU with an unassisted goal in the 76th minute. Nic Lemen saved all three shots on goal, posting his second clean sheet of the season.
