The NKU women’s soccer team played in front of a record-setting crowd of almost 900 on Tuesday at Scudamore Field, as they clashed with the Ohio University Bobcats. Many athletes from other NKU sports made their way to Scudamore Field to support the team.
The women’s soccer team highlighted that Tuesday’s turnout was the largest crowd in NCAA Division I history on Instagram, with 879 attendees.
The game started quickly for the Bobcats as they scored in the sixth minute off the leg of Rayann Pruss. The scoring would not stop there for the Bobcats, as Maia Kaufman would score to put them up by two goals in the 21st minute.
Halftime did not slow the Ohio offense down either as they were able to put one through the net thanks to a Jaimason Brooker goal in the 47th minute to create an almost insurmountable lead.
The Ohio defense was just as good as the offense all night. The Norse would only get up two shots on goal from Sofia Wilmes and Ayla Conn that both came up short. The Bobcats would score again before it was all over on a Brooker assist to Scout Murray to increase the tally to 4-0, which would end up being the final score.
The Norse have a chance to play in front of another record setting crowd and get their first win of the season at Scudamore Field on Sunday, Aug. 25 as they take on the Louisville Cardinals.
