Norse set to collide with FC Cincinnati in exhibition game

The NKU men’s soccer team will host FC Cincinnati in a spring exhibition match on Tuesday, February 27. This will be the second time the Norse will host the club team. The Norse met the FC Cincinnati’s reserve team last August, with the match ending in a 1-1 tie. This is the first game announced for the Norse’s spring season..

FC Cincinnati qualified for the USL playoffs in the past two seasons and advanced to the semifinals of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup in 2017.

”It’s no secret that FC Cincinnati is one of the hottest professional soccer franchises in the country and to be able to host them at NKU Soccer Stadium is invaluable for our program,” said head coach Stu Riddle in a press release.

Tickets for the match will go on sale starting Monday, Jan. 29 on Ticketmaster or by visiting Alice Sparks Box Office at BB&T Arena. Tickets will be $5 for general admission and will be first-come, first serve.

“My staff and I have been able to form a strong relationship with the FCC coaching staff, and it’s important that we thank them for this opportunity,” Riddle continued in the statement. “We thoroughly enjoyed our match against FCC in the fall and hope that the soccer community shows up in droves again in what will be an exciting opportunity for our players.”

Kickoff will be at 7 p.m. at the NKU Soccer Stadium. The gates open one hour before kickoff and parking will be available in Lot O and the Welcome Center Garage on the campus of Northern Kentucky University.
