Norse golf finishes tied for eighth at Turning Stone
VERONA, N.Y. — Shooting team rounds of 304, 286 and 307, the men’s golf team finished tied for eighth Monday at the Turning Stone Tiger Invitational hosted by the University of Missouri.
The host Tigers won the event, shooting a two-under 862 for the event. They were followed by Cleveland State and Xavier. NKU was tied for eighth with Grand Canyon with a score of 33-over-par 897.
Clayton Portz led the Norse, finishing tied for 14th overall with a three-over 219. He shot rounds of 75, 68 and 76. He finished seven shots behind tournament medalist Joey Krecic of Cleveland State.
Jacob Brinker (76-71-76) was tied for 23rd with a seven-over 223. Matt Wetherill was 11-over with a 227 (78-70-79), good for a tie for 37th.
Jacob Poore was tied for 46th, shooting a 14-over 230 (75-77-78). Logan Gamm was tied for 60th with a 233 (78-78-77), while Landon Osborne was 69th, shooting a 236 (80-79-77).
The men’s golf team returns to action September 14-15 at the Joe Feaganes Marshall Invitational in Huntington, West Virginia.
