With a hitting percentage of .327 in the current season and picking up a personal record of 20 kills against Evansville, Jenna Ruble is a key part to NKU’s volleyball team. But what else do you know about her?
Q: What is your favorite before game meal?
A: Chicken parmesan. Carb loading!
Q: Do you have any sports related superstitions?
A: Um, no, not really. I can’t think of anything.
Q: What would be your best achievement to date?
A: Well my best achievement is playing on the volleyball team, and then also getting academic awards at the same time. I’ve been able to balance both.
Q: What are you most looking forward to the rest of this season?
A: I’m most looking forward to making it to our tournament, our post-season tournament, it’s definitely still an option for us.
Q: What is the #1 song played on your IPod?
A: “Black Widow” by Iggy Azelea.
Q: Who is your celebrity crush?
A: Oh my gosh what is Liam Hemsworth’s older brother? Chris Hemsworth, seriously! That’s my guy.
Q: If you won the lottery, what is the first thing you would do?
A: Well I think that if I won the lottery, I would pay off my entire families debt, and then I would use that money to travel the world.
Q: What scares you the most? Why?
A: Graduating. Because I will hopefully be practicing as a nurse, and just having a full job and responsibility, as a real human being.
Q: What is your favorite flavor of ice cream?
A: Moose tracks!
Q: What is your dream vacation destination?
A: Anywhere at the beach, give me the beach and I’m happy. Let’s say Aruba if you need specifics.
Q: What other sport do you wish you were equally as good at?
A: Tennis. I went to tennis camps when I was younger, but the talent was not there.
Q: Do you have a nickname?
A: Chuck.
Q: What are your pet peeves?
A: I can’t think of any right now.
Q: What is your favorite TV show or movie?
A: I’m a big Netflixer, so there’s a lot. Oh, Breaking Bad, that’s a good one.
Q: What is your favorite holiday? Why?
A: Thanksgiving because the first time you’re always at school, and I just don’t get to go home much. so Thanksgiving is that first break and I get to go home and see my family.
Q: What are your hobbies outside of volleyball?
A: Um, well I it’s basically volleyball right now. I hope to find some as soon as I’m done, because I have like a month left. So my hobby is going to be finding a new hobby.
Q: You had a career best of 20 kills against Evansville, so how does that feel?
A: I just want to beat it. It felt great, but it just gives me a goal to reach next time, or in the future.
Q: How are you continuing to improve after that?
A: By just still working hard, and knowing that I can do it, just makes me feel like I should do that more often, or at least come close more often. I just keep practicing hard, and working on fundamentals.
Q: What are your hopes for the rest of the season, whether personally or for the team?
A: Making it to our tournament is the biggest one! Personally and for the team, is just keeping everyone healthy, we suffered from an unfortunate loss on our team. So I think that keeping everyone healthy and strong, and making it to the tournament.
