Northern Kentucky University Athletic Director Scott Eaton announced on Friday that former Norse All-American and interim coach Liz Holmes was named the school’s next volleyball coach.
Holmes was an assistant coach for the Norse since 2008, but took over mid-way through this season as the interim head coach. She led the team to a 20-14 overall record, including a 10-4 mark in the Great Lakes Valley Conference and guided the squad to the NCAA Tournament.
Holmes began her NKU playing career by winning GLVC Freshman of the Year in 2004. She went on to be named GLVC Player of the Year in her senior year. She led NKU to a 26-9 record, and helped the Norse earn a spot in the NCAA Tournament.
Holmes finished her Norse playing career as the all-time career leader with 1,850 kills in Norse history. She also finished seventh all-time in digs with 1,191.
