Collin Jarrell and Kyah Smith were announced as the winners of the 2025-26 Student Government Association (SGA) presidential election on Thursday night, receiving 329 votes and defeating opponents Jasmine Bradley and Ariel Stephens.
Groups of supporters gathered on the third floor of the Student Union Thursday evening to rally behind their respective SGA candidates. Dean of Students Dr. Bob Alston and SGA Chief Justice Tommy Holtz announced the results outside the dean’s office just after 9 p.m.
Jarrell, a junior business major, currently serves as the vice president of SGA. Smith, a sophomore economics and accounting double major, is president of the Residence Hall Association and the secretary of administration for SGA.
The pair announced their candidacy on Feb. 24 and campaigned on the platform of making NKU an “authentic, balanced community.”
“I’m so excited. I’m so honored. I’ve loved serving as vice president, and I can’t wait to start as president.” Jarrell said after the announcement of the results.
The final vote total was 329 votes for the Jarrell-Smith slate, 259 votes for the Bradley-Stephens slate and 12 votes for lone candidate Waqar Ahmed.
Their term will begin on April 21, 2025 and run through April 2026.
