The possible presence of explosives was detected in two suitcases on Monday morning, which resulted in the closure of University Drive between Campus Drive and Johns Hill Road, according to an NKU press release.
The “suspicious package” was located in the woods of campus Monday morning. Following the discovery, agencies including the NKU Campus Police, University of Cincinnati Campus Police, Cincinnati Police Department and Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office secured the area.
An initial screening by an explosives detection K-9 unit indicated the possible presence of explosives in the package, according to the August 21 press release.
This indication resulted in a thorough inspection and closure of the road from approximately 11:10 a.m. until 12:30 p.m., according to Norse Alerts.
The contents of the suitcases were found to be harmless, the statement said, and there was no safety risk.
