VPSA announces webcam monitoring around Housing rock after vandalism
April 6, 2021
Vice President of Student Affairs Eddie Howard announced in a campus-wide email today that a live-stream webcam will monitor the rock that was vandalized last week by a white supremacist group on campus along with university police patrolling parts of campus more frequently and an incident response plan from the Center for Student Inclusiveness.
“First, I have asked University Police to increase patrols and surveillance coverage around the rock and other key areas on campus. I have also tasked the Center for Student Inclusiveness to work on an incident response plan, which includes some long-term strategies that should involve constituents from the entire campus community,” Howard said in the email.
“Watch the Rock” is a live-stream monitoring system that will be monitoring activity around the rock on campus 24/7 and will have a website ready in the coming days.
“I invite the entire campus community to help us protect our campus. If you see something, say something … it is our responsibility to protect our campus and to show Norse campus unity,” Howard said in the email.
