 What items can be recycled at NKU?

 Whether its old oil from university-owned vehicles, outdated cell phones from a former professor or unneeded paper printouts from a student, check out a list of all the different items currently recyclable at NKU.

 Click each the recyclable items below  for unique facts about the item or for special instructions on how to recycle it at NKU.

 various paper – This category of recyclables includes office paper, printer paper, etc. and can be recycled in bins located in offices and hallways across campus.

 corrugated cardboard – This category includes things such as cardboard boxes. Items such as this can be sent to the recycling center.

BooksMagazines

 magazines and books – The materials contained in items such as magazines and books can be recycled. To do so, place them in appropriate recycling bins across campus.

Newspaper

 newspapers – Newspapers can be placed in paper recycling bins across campus.

Phonebook

 telephone books – The paper materials in this item can be recycled. To do so, place them in paper recycling bins across campus.

Cans

 aluminum and steel cans – This category includes things such as soft drink cans. These items can be placed in specifically labelled bins across campus.

Plasticglassbottles

 plastic and glass bottles – This category includes things such as soft drink cans and can be placed in specifically labelled bins across campus.

Batteries

 batteries– of any variety, sizes, and styles.

lightbulbs

 light bulbs – Light bulbs used all across campus can be sent to the recycling center.

tiresandoil

 tires and oil from campus vehicles – Even though these items aren’t what typically comes to mind when thinking about recycling, the materials can be recycled on-campus on a case-by-case basis.

inkcartridges

 ink cartridges – Surprisingly even these items can be recycled on campus. To do so, they can be taken to the recycling center.

rug

 carpet – Carpet from on-campus areas can be recycled. Also, most of newly installed carpeting across campus is produced from recycled materials.

Computer

 e-scrap items – This is a relatively new category of recycling that includes things such as old or broken computers, cell phones and more. These items can be recycled through sending them to the recycling center.

couchmetalbuildingscraps

 metals from broken furniture and demolition materials– On a case-by-case basis, materials resulting from building renovation projects on campus can be recycled.
