Welcome back to another semester full of possibilities at Northern Kentucky University.
The staff at The Northerner worked over the winter break to give your print newspaper a new feel and look. We wanted to bring that “news” feeling back to the paper and hope the new design helps to accomplish that. But you won’t only find a new layout for the same old stories, you will also enjoy some new sections, including: the addition of wire stories, the return of the editorial and opinions page, a new calendar page and the return of Sudoku. So, be sure to pick up a copy to take advantage of some exclusive content.
The staff has also shifted some over the break. Matt Brewer and Shawn Buckenmeyer, who were previously staff writers, are now the news and arts & entertainment section editors, respectively. If you have ideas for stories and see them walking around, let them know your ideas.
For that matter, send us an e-mail through our website with your ideas or submit an application to become a writer, photographer, web team member or any of the myriad other positions available. Don’t be shy if you don’t know the first thing about any of it, we will be more than happy to help you learn as you go (and it looks great on resumes, too).
If you are not so inclined to start working on the staff, but still have something you want to say or an opinion about a topic, write us an editorial or opinion piece. If you’re not sure how to do it, again, come ask us and we will be more than happy to help you get on the right path.
So make sure you pick up another issue next week, talk to your friends about what you are reading and get those pens moving.
