The Northern Kentucky Women’s Basketball team earned a split in the two road games following their first loss of the season, defeating Lewis University on Jan. 29 and falling to Wisconsin-Parkside on Jan. 31.
NKU (17-2, 9-2 Great Lakes Valley Conference) appeared to have returned to their winning ways in the first contest, at Lewis (10-10, 6-5 GLVC), topping the Flyers 66-56.
The matchup with Wisconsin-Parkside (13-7, 9-2 GLVC), however, was a different story.
The team’s recent woes continued as the women dropped the contest to the Rangers by a 60-50 margin, accounting for NKU’s second loss in three outings and moving Wisconsin-Parkside into a first place tie in the GLVC East Division with NKU.
The Rangers, who were led by Jadee Rooney and Amanda Gibson with 14 points each, topped the Norse in each field goal shooting percentage category and pulled down eight more rebounds on a night which a combined 30-point performance from NKU standouts Jessie Slack and Cassie Brannen wasn’t enough.
The No. 6 ranked Norse will look to bounce back when they host St. Josephs on Feb. 5. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
