No official charges have been filed against the suspect in the rape that was reported in Commonwealth Hall. University Police Chief Harold Todd said that the case was referred to the Commonwealth Attorney, who will decide whether or not to file charges or send the case to a grand jury.
More information should be released Feb. 13, Todd said.
However, the suspect has left the university, Todd said. Because the case is still under investigation, no information can be released.
The alleged rape was reported to University Police on Jan. 28, but had occurred before that day.
According to the federal campus statistics report, five forcible sex offenses occurred on campus between 2004 and 2006. (Only those years are available on the current report.) According to the DPS daily crime log, two rapes were reported in 2007.
