Northern Kentucky University’s volleyball team ranked No. 24 in the NCAA Division II rankings for the sport.

The American Volleyball Coaches Association released the rankings Sept. 3.

NKU is 8-1 overall and began their season by defeating North Alabama and Ashland, both of which are nationally ranked, according to the NKU Athletics Web site.

The volleyball team will meet two other nationally-ranked teams in a match Sept. 7 against Hillsdale (Michigan) and Grand Valley State. Both matches will be in Ashland, Ohio.

The university will open the Great Lakes Valley Conference with a neutral-court match Sept. 8 also in Ashland against Kentucky Wesleyan. The team will also play against Wheeling Jesuit to end the two-day conference.
