FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) – Lexington attorney Gatewood Galbraith reported raising nearly $18,000 for his Democratic primary race in a campaign finance report filed with the Kentucky Registry of Election Finance.
“I haven’t made the first phone call to ask for money,” Galbraith said Monday. “And I will not make a phone call to ask for money. That is the root of what’s wrong with politics in Kentucky today.”
Galbraith, who is the first to file a campaign finance report, has been critical of his opponents in the governor’s race, saying their fundraising makes them beholden to the people who donate.
“Money is not going to buy this election,” he said. “If your vote’s not for sale, it doesn’t matter how much money a person has or doesn’t have.”
The Galbraith campaign reported $17,823.90 in contributions, and $17,049.10 in disbursements.
