With only a week left to revel in the arts with the 20 Days and 20 Nights Festival Kristin Suess, Enjoy the Arts/START manager of programs and services, and 20/20 events coordinator gave us some must see and do events to check out before the curtain closes on the fourth annual festival which ends Oct 15.
Suess urges students to get out and enjoy the rest of 20/20 and explore the art and culture Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky has to offer.
“We have an incredible arts scene here in the region. This is the perfect opportunity to enjoy the great quality arts and do it cheaply as well,” Suess said.
Her picks for the next week include:
* Open for Havoc Powerhouse Factories Inc. in Covington
The factory swings open its doors to the public Oct. 16 from 8 p.m. until midnight for an evening of rockin’ print havoc” as it helps you design your own screen-printed and editioned Powerhouse rock posters. “You get to make your own art in a way that’s really unexpected,” Suess said. “It’s something many have never done before. It’s going to be really exciting, and it’s free!”
* Toy Lab for Two by Happen’s Toy Lab in Cincinnati
Just in time for Sweetest Day and Halloween, Suess suggests that you and a special someone build your own creations out of recycled toy parts Oct. 15 and 16 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. “You get to tap that inner Frankenstein,” she said.
* The Ultimate ArtTrek at the Cincinnati Art Museum
Teams compete in art trivia, creativity and a scavenger hunt Oct. 12 from 5:30 to 9 p.m. for prizes and bragging rights. “It’s a mix between a scavenger hunt and ‘Amazing Race,'” Suess said. “It’s a fun thing to get friends together.”
* Carnivale d’Expose at the Carnegie Visual and Performing Arts Center
Test the limits of your comfort zone with body painting, sensory explorative exhibits, runway shows and exotic foods Oct. 15 from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. “It’s built for the student and young professional demographic,” Suess said.
