The VISTA program is celebrating its 40th Anniversary this year. You may know that Kentucky was one of the first sites for the deployment of VISTA volunteers. As part of the national effort to recognize this milestone, a group of Friends of VISTA will be hosting a special event in Lexington, Kentucky on October 22 at 7:00 pm (the place is being firmed up soon). We need help in making contact with former VISTA volunteers in the area as well as those who may have been involved with a sponsoring agency or may have been served by or involved in the VISTA experience over the last 40 years.
We would ask that you run the following in places where you think appropriate:
AmeriCorps*VISTA is celebrating its 40th Anniversary this year and wants to hear from former VISTA volunteers, VISTA supervisors and others connected to VISTA programs. For more information on the celebration, please send your name, address, telephone, email and connection to VISTA to Dale Tucker, Corporation for National ‘ Community Service, KY State Office, 600 Martin Luther King Jr Place, Room 190, Louisville, KY 40202-2230 or dtucker@cns.gov.
Thanks so much for your help. We would love to have a feature story on the work of VISTA in Kentucky over the last 40 years. I am gathering information and will have a packet to share with you in the near future. I am new to the office and I am amazed at all the folks in our area with connections to VISTA!
