It’s different, it’s growing and it’s getting more attention each year.
It’s the National Pan-Hellenic Council’s third annual step show.
“We are having the largest party to see NKU this year,” said senior Devan King, president of NPHC. “Stepping was an idea that originated from Africa, and the tradition has been carried on by our perspective organizations as a way for healthy competition, fundraiser and means of entertainment for the campus and community.”
This year’s show is not only intended to entertain, but NPHC will also donate a portion of the proceeds to Up ’til Dawn, to starting a book scholarship and to building a grant to help individual organizations do their own events, she said.
African dancing, the induction of a new Hispanic sorority to Northern Kentucky University and an after party are all scheduled for the April 9 event. The after party will be held in Regents Hall from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. after the step show.
The step show will be held in Greaves Concert Hall, beginning at 7 p.m. April 9. General admission tickets for the show are $7. King believes that this year’s event will be financially successful as well as entertaining.
“We try to get bigger and better every year,” she said.
