To celebrate Valentine’s Day, I decided to interview two basketball players who are dating. In the first week of this two-part Valentine’s Day Hot Seat, I sat down with Betsey Clark. You can see the results of Pat Cary’s interview in next week’s Hot Seat.

John Rasp: Playing a game of HORSE, who wins between the both of you? Betsey Clark: Definitely me, as long as he couldn’t dunk the ball. That would be unfair.

JR: Now that you guys are dating, do you cheer more for the men’s team? BC: No, not really.

JR: If you guys were playing on the same team in a two-on-two game, which men’s/women’s players would give the both of you the most trouble? BC: I’d have to say Rupe for him just because of his size. If he were guarding someone smaller, it wouldn’t be as fun because he could block him. For me, it would probably be Connie Myers because she is really good. She’s too tough to defend.

JR: Fact or Fiction: Love and Basketball is the best basketball movie ever made? BC: Fiction. Definitely fiction. I like The Sixth Man. That’s my favorite movie that involves basketball.

JR: What would you say was your best game this year? BC: Probably the Saint Joseph’s game. According to coach, that is the game that it kind of turned around when I went in.

JR: What would Pat say was his best game this year? BC: Wayne State because he had 28 points.

JR: Men’s assistant Dave Bezold versus women’s assistant Brian Neal: who wins? BC: Bezold would probably win. (Laughs) Neal’s going to kill me for saying that.

JR: Who get’s more mad after a loss, you or Pat? BC: Definitely Pat.

JR: What are the big plans for Valentine’s Day? BC: We don’t really have any yet. We like to play it by ear. We’re not the kind of couple that plans things too far out in advance.

JR: What player/players give you the hardest time about going out? BC: (Kevin) Schappell and Sean (Rowland). The girls are really cool about it all. They all thinks it’s cute.
