The Toyota USA Foundation donated $1million towards the enhancement of Northern Kentucky University’s local science and math education during a gift announcement Dec. 17th in the Natural Science Center.
Half will go to support the young scholars summer program for science and math students in preschool through 12th grade, while the rest will be invested in state-of-the-art science equipment.
“We look forward to the day when we host 3,000 youth on campus for science and math camps like we do for sports camps,” said NKU President James Votruba during the announcement.
Another goal is to engage undergraduate physics students in research and innovative programs that include projects like designing and building a human-powered moon buggy for a NASA competition, Votruba said.
