The campus community has two new celebrations to look forward to in the next few weeks. The Campus Life Team will help sponsor and conduct the Spring Fling and Feast for Finals.
The Campus Life Team is a division of Student Affairs which was created to help establish traditions and create a more vibrant student life, said committee chair Quincy Martin III.
Spring Fling will help to celebrate the opening of the new sports complex in the residential village on Friday, April 19. The fun begins at 11 a.m. and continues until the music stops. The focus of the Spring Fling will be centered around “activities geared around athletic, friendly competition,” said Martin.
For those who do not wish to participate in sporting events will find other activities supported by other campus organizations. A cookout and door prizes are planned for the event. The Spring Fling is open to all students.
Feast For Finals is designed to allow “students to take a break before finals,” said Martin. The carnival type atmosphere of the feast will feature faculty, staff and administrators serving breakfast to the students. A similar event at other college campuses is called midnight breakfast, but the name was changed because the event will take place between 8 p.m. and 11 p.m., said Martin.
The Feast For Finals event is open to the entire campus community and will also include other entertainment such as Department and Student Organization sponsored activities. The Feast will be held Monday, April 29 on the Norse Commons.
