Northern Kentucky University’s Cammi Welter, a sophomore from Cincinnati, is The Northerner Athlete of the Week.
Welter has helped guide the Norse volleyball team to a 24-4 overall record and a perfect 14-0 Great Lakes Valley Conference record.
Her 16 kills, 16 digs and .538 hitting percentage helped the Norse defeat the University of Southern Indiana, 30-16, 30-25, 30-25, on Nov. 2.
“She has steadily become better at ‘reading the hitter,'” said coach Carlos Chia.
“The results are evident in her performance in the last couple of weeks.”
Welter also had 16 kills and 14 digs in the win over the University of Wisconsin-Parkside, 30-18, 30-14, 28-30, 30-22, back on Oct, 26, and was recently named GLVC Athlete of the Week.
“Throughout our long season there are a lot of unsung heroes,” said Chia.
“Cammi is one of the many that just goes unnoticed among the recipients of such honor. We hope that many more on the team get recognized for their accomplishments on the court but for now, we
