‘Willy Wonka’ brings candy-coated musical theater to Carnegie

Unwrap Roald Dahl’s timeless adventure at the Carnegie.

If you missed “Willy Wonka and The Chocolate Factory” on Broadway, The Carnegie in Covington is hosting the candy-coated production Jan. 18-28.

Music and lyrics by Leslie Bricusse and Timothy Allen McDonald, the production takes more inspiration from the 1971 film starring Gene WIlder, rather than Johnny Depp’s 2005 performance–both are based on the novel “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” by Roald Dahl.

The colors and songs are vibrant; delve into the chocolate river and slip into pure imagination. You may even see some of your fellow classmates on the stage: NKU students on the cast list include John Diedenberg, Laura Dinn and Linsey Rogers.

Tickets are $23 with a student ID, $30 for adults. The box office will be open Tuesday through Friday 12-5 p.m. or by phone at (859) 957-1940.
