As the seasons begin to transition, winter junkies are looking to savor that cold weather.
Perfect North has become a staple to tri-state residents looking to snowboard, ski or tube. Hours are 9:30-9:30 p.m. on weekdays, but the slopes are open 9:30-midnight on Fridays and Saturdays. Located in Lawrenceburg, IN., the slopes offer winter warriors the opportunity to let loose on a variety of terrains.
Tickets to Perfect North are $79, and if you need to rent out equipment to hit the slopes, you’ll pay a little more. If you find your hobby in skiing or snowboarding, they also offer season passes to drop in at any time.
Plenty of resources are available for first-timers who have never gone sledding in their backyard and are petrified to hop on the slopes. On their website, an entire page is dedicated to getting newcomers prepared for where to go, how to get lessons and any other information you may need.
For more experienced individuals, Perfect North has upgraded some of its pipes to have a more efficient snowmaking system. Yes, snowmaking.
They also nestle a lodge at the base of the slopes offering food and drinks.
Austin J. on Yelp ranks Perfect North four stars.
”Would be five stars but no beer. Slopes are cool. Long trails. Wish there was more open,” he joshed. He forgot to mention the $2 hot chocolate.
For Austin J.’s next visit to the area, he might find that fallen star in Covington.
Braxton Brewing Co. has reservable igloo bars and plenty of beer. Open 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Braxton offers a “private oasis” in their heated igloos. Each oasis has a maximum occupancy of eight with a 2.5-hour time limit. While heated, Braxton suggests dressing warm and bringing blankets.
If after a few drinks your tummy starts whistling, Dewey’s Pizza is available. The Igloo Bar offers giant pretzels and a charcuterie board.
Facebook user Cindy Monhollen recommends Braxton: ”Whatever is stressing you… it will all work out.”
But if all this snow and ice is what’s causing stress, there’s always the jungle. And no, not Paycor Stadium, home of the Cincinnati Bengals.
Krohn Conservatory–coined the Garden of Eden, presents “Emerge,” a revere to spring. The botanical garden features over 3,500 plant species from around the world and is open 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Located in Eden Park, Krohn is an escape from the winter blues.
The conservatory consists of four climates, a bonsai tree gallery and a seasonal showroom. There are weekly events listed on their website.
Joe B. on Tripadvisor has seen bigger: ”Although not big compared to other conservatories in other cities, we do enjoy coming here during the winter months to see the exotic plants and displays.”
