“The Rocky Horror Picture Show” will enter the spotlight Oct. 30 at 7:30 p.m. and 10:00 p.m.
The seventh annual production will be put on by The Henry at the Woodward Theater in Covington.
The Henry presents the show every year, playing the 1975 version of “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” film on a large screen behind The Henry actors and actresses as they lip sync the words. This type of show is called a shadowcast.
The audience is encouraged to come ready for callouts and dressed in whatever they feel confident in.
“There’s a ton of different websites and places where you can find the callouts. You can have them up with you while you’re watching the show,” said Belle Scholles, who plays Rocky.
Rocky is a show notoriously known for self expression, queerness and the beauty of diversity. The actors and actresses in the show are putting themselves outside of their comfort zones through costumes, dance moves and more.
“A personal thing that I’ve had to get through with the show is being comfortable with the self expression that Rocky brings out in people,” said Abbie Schuler, playing Columbia.
The show is the only fundraiser The Henry Konstantinow uses to raise money for the student series, which is a series of plays or musicals entirely organized by students, for that year.
When asked what the audience can expect, Andrew Kelm, who plays Dr. Frank-N-Furter, said, “Oh a lot of fishnets, a lot of feathers and they can expect a great time.” The show will run one night only on Oct. 30 at 7:30 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. Tickets can be found on https://www.cincyticket.com/eventperformances.asp?evt=6933.
