LeVert triple-double leads Michigan past NKU
ANN ARBOR, Michigan — Michigan senior Caris LeVert recorded only the fourth triple-double in school history Tuesday night in a 77-62 victory over Northern Kentucky.
LeVert finished with 13 points, 10 rebounds and a career-high 10 assists. According to mgoblue.com, LeVert joins Darius Morris in 2011, Manny Harris in 2009 and Gary Grant in 1987 in recording a triple-double.
Meanwhile, the Norse played another strong game against a major Division I basketball power. NKU shot 53.6 percent in the first half, and trailed by only 9, 43-34, at the intermission.
Michigan (8-3) also shot the ball well in the first half, making 56.7 percent of its shots. The Wolverines also shot well in the second half, making 47.8 percent. NKU cooled off in the second half, shooting just 37.9 percent.
Jalen Billups led NKU (2-6) with 16 points and 6 rebounds. Cole Murray added 15 points. Lavone Holland II had 12 points. Tyler White had a team-high 7 assists.
Duncan Robinson led Michigan with 18 points. Derrick Walton Jr. added 16 points.
NKU returns home Saturday as part of another doubleheader with the women’s basketball team. The men will play Southeast Missouri State at 7 p.m. Saturday.
According to a release from nkunorse.com, there will be a teddy bear toss benefiting St. Elizabeth Hospital at halftime. The university said fans are encouraged to bring any new stuffed animal and will have a chance to win an HDTV, iPad Mimi, Fitbit, PS4 bundle and all-session tickets to the Horizon League men’s tournament.
